A Solution To Brain Fog A.K.A. Chemo Brain

This Week in Our Community: We Talked About Brain Fog

This week inside our community, we talked all about brain fog—what it feels like, why it happens, and most importantly, what actually helps. If you’ve ever walked into a room and forgotten why, struggled to find words, or felt like your thoughts were moving through molasses, you are not alone. So many women shared that this side effect can feel just as frustrating as the physical ones.

What Our Community Says Brain Fog Feels Like

  • “Like my brain is buffering.”
  • “I’m not as sharp as I used to be.”
  • “I know what I want to say, but I can’t get it out.”
  • “I feel slower—and that scares me.”

Hearing each other describe it helped normalize something many women silently worry about. Brain fog during and after treatment is common—and it does not mean you are broken.

What Women in Our Community Say Helps

1. Hydration First

One of the biggest themes? Water. Many members shared that dehydration made their fog dramatically worse. Several women said that simply increasing fluids—especially in the morning—made a noticeable difference in clarity and energy.

2. Protein at Every Meal

Blood sugar crashes were another common trigger. Members found that adding protein (eggs, yogurt, protein shakes, nut butter, chicken, beans) helped stabilize energy and reduce that mid-day “mental dip.”

3. Gentle Daily Movement

Even a 10–15 minute walk was described as a “reset button” for the brain. Movement increases blood flow, supports mood, and helps reduce stress—which many said amplified their fog more than anything else.

4. Writing Everything Down

Instead of fighting it, members embraced tools: planners, phone reminders, sticky notes, and voice memos. One woman shared, “I stopped judging myself and started supporting myself.”

5. Giving Themselves Grace

Perhaps the most powerful takeaway: brain fog is temporary for most women, and self-compassion matters. Stress and self-criticism often made symptoms worse. Letting go of perfection helped.
