Founder's Story
Hi, I am Lesley, in the spring of 2009 I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer when I was only 41 years old. I was the first person in my family to be diagnosed with breast cancer, so to say I did not see it coming would be an understatement!
I fought to save my life, but what life did I have now? I was a shadow of my former self.
Following my cancer treatments, which included chemotherapy, radiation, and multiple surgeries, I was struggling to regain my pre-cancer self. I had heard of the “new normal” but no one prepared me for the life-changing collateral damage of the very treatment that had saved my life.
Feeling “normal” again after cancer treatment is something that is not talked about much. I had fought to save my life and for many days I struggled with the myriad of “after effects”.
One of the things that was most difficult was the fact that I had to be put in to menopause at only 41 years of age to give me the best chance of staying cancer free. The immediate loss of hormones at such a young age left me with:
- Insomnia
- Brain Fog
- Decreased Energy
- Weight Gain/Inability to Lose Weight, especially in my mid-section.
- Osteoarthritis
- Loss of Libido
All of the above, including the physical changes of losing my hair and breasts.
My focus and the focus of Ultimate Vitality is to guide you on the path back to YOU. ANYONE who has been through a major illness, accident, long recovery, or trauma that has had an impact on your quality of life can benefit from my experience whether it is cancer or not.
My goal, first and foremost, is to let you know you are NOT alone on this journey. I want to save you all of the time, aggravation, research, and challenges I encountered on my journey.
